Such Great Heights with Sigma Photo

Blue Collar and Sigma Photo. In the past five years, we’ve accomplished a lot together. The photo below of us standing together at 7000’ on Mount Hood really captures it for me.

Something special happens with concerted effort and passion over time. It’s even more memorable when you reach new heights (not just a dorky mountain joke) with a group of people you admire professionally and enjoy personally.

I read recently “All lasting business is built on friendship.” And I couldn’t agree more with this quote by Alfred A. Montapert.

The basis of a strong business partnership is really simple—true affinity for the people you work with. When it comes to Sigma, collaboration paired with a fun sense of humor is constant and keeps us all going when it gets challenging. We have a level of transparency and trust that adds dimension to our relationship and helps us achieve to our highest level as a team.

The value of face-to-face meetings. How else could we eat Apple Valley pie together?

Since we began our partnership with Sigma in 2009, we’ve gotten together all over the place—at their office in New York, at CES in Las Vegas and even Photokina in Germany. This July, we were excited to talk business strategy with an in-person meeting, and also to share our little slice of paradise—Hood River. It proved to be a very productive, fun and memorable few days in the Pacific Northwest.

This visit was really special. Not only did we plow through a ton of work in two days of meetings, but even made time for some fun. We tasted at two local wineries—AniChe Cellars and Domain Pouillion—and cleansed our palette with charcuterie, cheese and house specialties by Ovino Market.

The full Hood River-Mount Hood-Portland experience

One of the trip highlights was our adventure on the south side of Mount Hood. After a tasty lunch at Timberline Lodge and breathtaking ride up the Magic Mile Sky Ride, we zoomed down the alpine slide at Ski Bowl. Topped off with dinner at Ox in Portland, our final day together really stands out as one of the most fun experiences with the Sigma Photo-Blue Collar team.

Who better to capture trip memories than the Sigma team with their brand new dp2 Quattro cameras. Following is a short selection of the beautiful images made with the dp2. From the Oregon coast to the Columbia River, the dp2 shows off the color, detail and mood of the Pacific Northwest.

Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect.

Thank you Mark, Christine, Emi and Patrick, for making the trip. Having you in Hood River is one of the highlights of my career at Blue Collar. So where do we meet in 2015?
